The Dallas Cowboys Have Restored the Official Tyrone Smith to the 53-Man Roster

During the early part of this season, the Dallas Cowboys made it clear that they believed that they had a legitimate shot at restoring official Tyrone Smith to the 53-man roster. Smith, who was placed on the team's injured reserve list on August 31, has spent the past few weeks trending in the direction of returning to practice. He is expected to return to practice this week, although it is still unknown whether he will play during the final weeks of the regular season.

The official Tyrone Smith has been battling a number of injuries in the back half of his career. He suffered an avulsion fracture in his left knee in late August, and has been on the sidelines since. His return would coincide with a critical period of the season, as Dallas was 6-2 heading into their bye. He has also been a key contributor on special teams, and should earn a larger role on the defensive line rotation during his return.

In addition to his injury, the OfficialTyroneSmith has also been involved in a criminal investigation that dates back to last year. In July 2015, a federal grand jury indicted him on seven counts, including three counts of sex trafficking by force and three counts of sex trafficking by threats.

According to the federal indictment, Smith continued to arrange commercial sex dates for a minor after he had physically abused her. He admitted that he was physically violent towards the minor, and he also arranged for johns to pay for sex with her in Chicago and Lansing. He also posted commercial sex advertisements for the minor on the Internet. Shortly after, he reconnected with the minor, who later sought medical attention for bruising.

During his first season with the Cowboys, Smith played both defense and special teams. In eight games, he recorded five tackles, and 0.5 tackles for loss. He also had one solo hit against Indiana, and two stops against Eastern Michigan. He earned a kickoff return for a touchdown at Ohio State, and had a solo tackle against Kent State.

After being drafted in the 24th round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Tyler Smith has already started all six games for the Cowboys. He has been playing well beyond his years, and has also had three penalties in his first six games. He has never unseated Connor McGovern as the starter at left guard, but has also been a primary fill-in for McGovern during training camp. When he comes back, he will likely move to left guard.

While he is still three to four weeks away from returning to full practice, Smith will have 21 days to get ready to make his official return. If he is ready, he will take over the left tackle position, and will start for the Cowboys in the third game of the season. This is a fine story, and Dallas will be able to give Dak Prescott some extra muscle for the stretch run of the season.
